I'm not exactly sure what was going on this morning, but we had an apparent car/criminal chase that ended about two blocks away. The 'bad guy' hit a utility pole, causing several blocks in the area (including yours truly) to lose power. I normally spend the morning writing and reflecting,so this... Sign in to see full entry.

I think I finally hit my stride in my 'cancer' story. I'm into the 'meat' of the story where the boy is talking with his father. I listened to a number of these conversations, and while no two were alike, there was a common undertow. My next and still to be decided turn of events is how far to delve... We went out walking along the river, and stumbled across the biggest hunk of black obsidian I've ever found. It's well over the size of an American football, closing in on the size of a basketball... and it was heavier than all sin too. The dogs are tired and so am I, but I'm going to do some... It's a quiet morning here in Newberry. I was up until 3 AM working on my story, but something woke me up about 8 AM, so I'm taking advantage of my Sunday morning rule I made for my friends. No calls, texts, or emails on the day after race day. It allows me to get my work done without constant... Sign in to see full entry.

Let me make a confession here and now. I've written thousands of political and sports columns, thirty some short stories, novellas, and books, and a lot of nonsense to post here, but I have never written anything that is as difficult as writing this 'Daddy Has Cancer' story I am writing right now.... Whew! The grass is mowed and I'm going to shower and then grab some lunch. I finished just as the temp hit 78 degrees. I am still not sure about the races tonight. The advance mode on the radar for that area shows it will be raining there, but 'advance mode' and 'reality mode' are two different... Sign in to see full entry.
While it is race day, the forecast is calling for rain in central lower Michigan developing this afternoon. The crews have all been given their instructions and I think everything is set. I love racing, but I'm tired and a day/night off would allow me to catch up on a few things that I have slacked... Sign in to see full entry.

A Special Blurry Photo
I was down along the Tahquamenon this afternoon with the dogs and happened to find a semi-freshly dead fish; a six inch perch to be exact. I don't know why, but I picked it up and tossed it into the middle of the river. Suddenly I hear a flapping of wings, and I look up to see this huge male bald... Sign in to see full entry.
It's the day before 'race day,' and I'm already getting calls and emails about what we are going to do. I've set up two interviews for my intrepid crew to do, given them and the interviewee's the questions so there is no stuttering and 'ah... ahhh... ah-ing.' The season is winding down and while I... Writing the ending to this cancer story has been difficult, but after getting stirred up about the story about my wife, it was much harder. I have most of it done now, I just need to clean it up. It's there, but as Gloria Estefan sang, 'The Words Get In The Way.' I'll get it together and have this... Sign in to see full entry.
