This is a male American Bald Eagle guarding the nest while his mate is out exercising and grabbing something to eat. These birds tend to 'mate for life,' and while I was in the UP, I watched them kick out about fourteen babies together. As you can see, I am relatively close to him, but I believe... Just Another Beautiful Night In the UP
I can't remember the name of this lake, but it was a favorite place to fish and take a few photos. This shot came out as crisp as any "Northern Lights" photo you will ever see. The lights were just about to begin to "dance" and I could leave the shutter speed at a quicker setting. You can even see... Sign in to see full entry.

Moose At Night - via A Trail Cam
A friend from the UP sent me this trail camera photo taken early on September 7th, 2022. This is a HUGE animal, probably weighing in at 2200 pounds or more. I've been close to a few females close to this size, and I've been around a couple, maybe three males about half this size, but I would never... Sign in to see full entry.

Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse of Munising
You may never know how many lives are saved by the way you stand - and what you stand for....just ask the Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse of Munising, Michigan. It was operated from 1868-1913 and was credited for saving thousands of lives due to its strategic location. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

The Northern Lights Over the Keweenaw Peninsula
This isn't the sharpest focus shot I have ever had, but to get these shots, you have to lengthen the time the shutter is open. If you have never witnessed this effect, the reflections dance in the sky like the lights off a mirror. Check it out! Sign in to see full entry.

Superior Campfire
I don't think I have posted this shot before, but hey, I'm old! We camped on the shore of Superior two different nights during our honeymoon. This is on the west side of Munising. That land mass on the left is Grand Island. I think I may have posted the shot from the other side of the island, but I... Sign in to see full entry.

The *Mighty Mac* on Labor Day 9.5.22
The Mackinaw Bridge, known locally as 'The Mighty Mac,' was host to the annual bridge walk. The six-mile-long bridge was shut down from ~ 6 AM until about 12:30 PM for thousands of people to walk across it, something that is illegal to do any other day of the year. This has been a tradition since... Sign in to see full entry.

A Misty Mirror at Trout Lake
Every time we came back to the UP, we would travel through the small little berg of Trout Lake, but the lake itself was not visible via the route we took. One early morning we were coming back home and Lisa asked me to show her the lake. To say she was awe-struck was an understatement. Remember to... Sign in to see full entry.

Bull Moose Walking
This old bull moose who absolutely knew we were standing there, walked out of the forest, looked at us and the dogs, and then made his way down the path, heading to the Tahquamenon River. This bull was about seven feet tall, hoof to the top of his head. We had seen him before, and I'm pretty sure he... Sign in to see full entry.
