This was a young pair of eagles building what might have been their first nest or their first nest together. The thing that struck me most about the Upper Peninsula was the diversity of scenery. The eastern end was "flatter,' almost tame, but the further west you went, the flat areas became hills and valleys, and then mountains. I took this photo back in the summer of 2016/ We had camped near a fairly large lake, and I was just getting up to stir the campfire when I spotted this canoe floating free in the water. This was both an amazing shot and an amazingly lucky shot. I was at a small lake in the early summer that wasn't very deep. I noticed a number of eagles circling the shore for several minutes, and I was trying to grab a shot of one of them in flight when I saw this young male go out over the center...
