I spent the day driving foreign students around, house hunting.

Classes at the University of Arizona begin on the 25th and everyone is grabbing up the nearby real estate rentals. I have driven my hosted granddaughter around before and she would not decide. We missed out on two places that she really wanted because 'she who hesitates is homeless'. We found three places or four that would be perfect and so, I hope that she acted upon one of them. It was a very humid day and that didn't make for lovely hunting. I took them down 3rd Street, the street of the... Sign in to see full entry.

Grandma's World is full of the sweet soul sounds of Isaac Hayes 2day.

I am really going to miss his music. He was so much of my youth, his music served as backdrop to so many days and nights..... This one is kind of representative of those old days....I liked the really long songs, which you never hear anymore. This one is about 9 minutes long, like most of his music and he used real instruments and many musicians....wonderful. Rest in Soulful Peace Mr. Hayes. Sign in to see full entry.

My newest grandson looks so much like himself and no one else.

I tried to burp him and nada..... Click on the photo to see him enlarged and then I suppose that you must click on the second photo to appear to enlarge that one....sigh. Anyway, I was able to hold him and that is so important for an Abuelita's bonding, no?? The good news for my DIL was that her labor was 5 1/2 hours long from start to baby, wonderful, no? by abuelitaromo Sign in to see full entry.

Grandma, Abuelita, is on her way to the hospital, running.

I just received a call from my baby boy, that he and his wife just arrived at the hospital up near my mom's house. They are all checked into the birthing ward and I will have a new grandson at any moment. His name will be Royal and his last name will be Jones. Sounds like a governor or presidential candidate to me. Maybe a doctor. His daddy is a barber and his mommy runs accounting for major hospital and health care service providers. So, he'll be a........saxophone player? A grandson born in my... Sign in to see full entry.

Americans are the most irreverent of all nationalities, I think.

Irreverent us. We cringe at the news of a disaster here or there, but not ten days later the jokes and dark humor begin. It may be a defense mechanism, but no one, except maybe the Russians and Germans and Brits do it better than we. Naw, we're the best a darkest humor. I heard about the campaigns for the Presidency getting nasty and it was inevitable, I knew. But, the perifery, the youtube loners and the cafepress shirt makers and the individual bumper stickers makers are just so clever and... Sign in to see full entry.

More Anglos are marrying Mexicans this week and more mixed babies

grace the arms of their happy parents all over town. What a racial and religious hodge podge America is. Lovely, wonderful, open minded and experimental and sometimes politically correct America. Tucson is special, except for the newcomers who have to take the time to learn how we get along around here..... I attended the wedding of a converted Mexican girl and her converted husband, who were marrying in the mosque at the U of A. God bless us, every one. Sign in to see full entry.

Wait til the stories come in from the China Olympics !

My friend and fellow artist lives periodically in China amongst the working poor and his stories are hysterically funny, if you don't have to live his life. He had me laughing my head off this week as he retold his life in China as he worked with factories over there getting his artwork reproduced. He likes his co-workers and could sincerely do stand up comedy on the subject. However, everyone going to the Olympics will have to breathe that yummy air, look up into that sunless opaque gray sky,... Sign in to see full entry.

Thank God for the manic part of manic depression. I get things done.

All the cactus and bamboo cuttings are gone, except for the new bamboo cuttings done today. I dismantled the "ghetto fencing" solution which I had rigged to keep the idiot dog, Mosinha, inside the garden. I thought of a solution and then tried to make it happen. My drill was not up to the job. I rented a big drill, using the 3/16ths bit for the 3/16ths mortar screws and the screws were too thin and the bit too fat. I went to Home Depot and traded the 3/16ths screws for 1/4s and came home. The... Sign in to see full entry.
