Touring day care centers and pre-schools with Semilla maestros.

I couldn't sleep worrying that no teachers would appear in the a.m. Went to my sister's school at 6 a.m. and waited for her to arrive in her school van, the one that she keeps at her home. We couldn't find the key to the other van which I was to drive and panicked. Found it outside where it should not have been. We drove to the apartment building where the University houses Semilla and 13 eventually appeared, out of the 21, not bad. We drove to the Double Tree Hotel to meet up with the paying... Ada Lovelace Day is coming up. Join us, please, to break a record.

Go here and read about Ada Lovelace who truly invented the first software for computers and all that, in the 1800s. then write about a wonderful scientific woman on her day, in yo9ur blog, and register with these people so that they can count you in their group, for the record. I will be doing that, on her day. Two weeks away. Sign in to see full entry.

Grandma's World is a sad and disappointing place, y'all.

I read the news and cannot believe that the young people are letting us oldsters argue about everything, while they, those youngsters, don't participate much. Too much crap going on they say, everyone lies, everyone steals, everyone doesn't change, nothing changes, why care, my younger friends say, "I don't do politics,", when I ask them why they aren't outraged with everything. I pity my grandchildren and great grandchildren, but they will do what they have to do, I hope, to keep things as... Sign in to see full entry.

People try to tell me that Mexico is scarey, but I know that America is

scarier and more crime ridden and violent. I shall live in a town of 70,000 people, colonial town, which rolls up the sidewalks behind you at 10 p.m. Seriously. If I have a good garage to park my car inside of each night, then I should be okay. The excitement will be remembering how to change out gas tanks for the water heater and stove, how to clean out the water tank on the roof and can't remember what else. I contacted a Century 21 agent already with tentative questions about my move......to... Sign in to see full entry.

Today we made penguins, ants on a log and smiling mouths in art class.

Penguins made of black olives. I cut coins of raw carrots and then removed one slice, like from a pizza. I gave the children a toothpick and they stuck it straight up into the carrot, which formed the feet. I gave them a huge black olive which we sliced open on one side and then stuffed full of cream cheese. We slid that down onto the toothpick and it formed his black and white tummy. They we slid a smaller black olive down the toothpick, stuck the small slice of carrot removed from the feet... Sign in to see full entry.

Teaching children the art of cooking on Monday...

Art comes in all forms and I have decided to cook this Monday, just for easy times. Well, not really cook, but make hamburgers, or rather, what look like hamburgers and are not. They should like the artistic side of this and the end result as they shall eat their creations. You take Nilla wafers, coconut, a chocolate wafer (thin mint) and some white icing > colored into red and yellow, while coloring the coconut green. Layering the Nilla wafers as buns, you spread the mustard on one and the... Sign in to see full entry.

Tucson's All Souls Procession now becoming an international attraction.

I painted my niece's face in the sugar skull pattern and she was stopped all night for photos, which was great. People said nice things. Some people wanted my card for faces next year. Great. I quickly painted my own face, too late in the day, finished painting it four minutes before arrivbing at the Procession start on 4th Avenue and University Blvd, our hippie, street kid, college kid area. Parked far away. I had too much with me, candy to pass out to children and those glow in the dark... Sign in to see full entry.

Today I vaccuumed out the car after removing all commerce from it.

I will need to take a family of 9 to the mosque tomorrow morning and then take many teachers to the All Soul's Procession in the afternoon. I made 36 bags of candy to give out to the refugee kids as I had not taken them to trick or treat and was feeling guilty. Candy was down to $.50 and $.25 a bag by today.... They chastised me as I handed out candy. Sigh.............but, I was able to hold my friend Saadiya's new baby, Salman, for a minute. Showed his grandmother how to do the Mexican tight in...
