David dropped a stitch. With a sigh, he leaned back in his armchair and contemplated the multi-colored sock he was knitting. It had been coming along nicely, and now he had dropped a stict. For a moment, he stopped to ponder whether, maybe, it had happened sort of deliberate or whether it... Sign in to see full entry.

the last journey
Sadly, my mom passed away recently. This happened in Germany where there are very strict rules about burial and the scattering of ashes is not allowed. I have to add, that she had made no arrangements and that I am the only family left, so I had to think about how to make her last journey as... Sign in to see full entry.

Unlimited "Limited editions"

Nowadays, it seems that nothing has any value (commercial or otherwise) if it does not bear the label "Limited edition". And this label stretches to... Sign in to see full entry.

Ersatz-mum
Very early on, I have decided not to have kids of my own. Telling people of that decision was often met with comments like "egotistical, self-centred" and the like. Which is an absolutely unfair assessment of people who have made that particular choice. I felt, that I was not made to be a mother,... Sign in to see full entry.

value of money
I have worked and lived in many countries and now spend, for the first time, several months in the USA. Nowhere else have I seen, literally, so much money lying around in the streets. Pennies, quarters, any coins. And nowhere else have I seen people ignoring them in such a way. Nobody, except me,... Sign in to see full entry.

How to crack writer's block
I'm sure you all know the feeling of frustration that comes with staring at the blank screen, fingers poised over the keyboard, but what fails to materialise are those magic words which will transform the literary world - or so we hope. My characters are stuck in whatever they were doing, a new... Sign in to see full entry.
