how to crack writer's block

so i don't own an iron. Never will never have.Never had the sort of job that requires one.I fold copious amounts of laundry and think of characters along the lines of vengeful wives that stuff wet laundry into their husband's side of the bed! Have you read Olsen's,  "I stand here Ironing?"

Good advice.  Ironing out the problem of writer's block and other such wrinkles you might come across.

I usually have the other problem
Which was also evident in my loquaciousness to my grade school peers, to whom I was "the radio that never turned off".

Though a man, I do iron my shirts and pants, sometimes just before dressing in the mornings.  This impressed the folks at the warehouse job who were remarkably observant about such matters.  They were also pretty quick to pick up on my literary references and such.  It was just the work that didn't require a lot of mental power.

I heard somewhere that Sir Walter Scott read whenever he had writer's block, so if I ever experience it, I suppose I will try that.  My usual procedure is to read only when I am not overflowing with words to write.  When I need to calm down, though, doing the laundry works for me, just as long as I don't get harassing calls from creditors and telemarketers.

Mother always did the ironing...

Mother always did the ironing, so I never learned how other than she did have me iron a few hankerchiefs for her when I was a child.  I guess that is why I don't carry hankies now, because I never liked ironing them.  I also don't iron my shirts; I just throw them in the dryer and let it knock the wrinkles out.  I don't go in for creases and all that, so it works great.  It leaves me time to turn the radio on to some sad country songs to get my poems started.  That is what works for me on the ironing and the writing.

Gardening always works for me, although often I get so involved in the outdoor work I forget to get back to writing!
