Turtles in my Living Room
There are two turtles swimming in a tank in my crowded living room. They make faces at me. I like to watch them think. I wondered aloud tonight if they ever got tired of swimming around back and forth, day after day, year after year. Did they yearn to stretch their legs and take off swirling and swooping, grazing the bottom of the river with their bellies...taking their time to see what's ahead above and below on their way to the surface for air?
