I'm Hearing Voices Again

I’m hearing voices again. Just like what happened last year, in the middle of the night, I’m being awakened by a loud voice saying my name and someone tapping on my shoulder. It’s happened twice in the last couple of weeks. When this happened last year, I initially thought it was my wife. But she swears it wasn’t her. And it did happen one time when she was out of town. Now I am sure of it because I’m currently living in Vermont while my wife tries to get our house sold back in Phoenix. So when... Sign in to see full entry.

The Last Three - And Most Unusual - Spiritual/Consciousness Levels

The next level after the Vision-Logic consciousness/spirituality level is the seventh level known as Psychic Consciousness. And this is the level where things really start to get interesting. At this level an individual becomes aware of what some call the Permanent Self, the part of the self that is beyond our understanding of space/time. Others call this self the Witness, that part of the self beyond body, mind and emotions. Some Christians call this the “small still voice within” (Ps 46:10)... Sign in to see full entry.

Levels of Spirituality/Consciousness Explain Beliefs From The Devil to "God

In my previous post, the first three levels of consciousness/spirituality were discussed. The levels discussed prior as well as those to be discussed later in this post, are examples individual, group and global levels of spirituality/consciousness based on the work of child psychologists, adult psychologists and religious mystics. The information shared in these posts comes from the book Putting on the Mind of Christ by Jim Marion, an American Christian mystic. The fourth level on Ken Wilber’s... Sign in to see full entry.

Spiritual Evolution Helps to Define One's Religious Beliefs

The first of three reposts - If someone believes theirs is the Only True Relgion, don't hold it against them, they can't help it. It is the level of spiritual evolution that they have reached that determines their ideas. Ken Wilbur, an American psychiatrist and Christian Mystic identifies a nine-stage process of consciousness/spiritual evolution. I am going to give a brief description of each. To truly explain each stage would take many pages from this blog. If you would like to learn more read... Sign in to see full entry.

Getting Chummy With Death

Death. If one wants to reunite with the Divine, one must overcome the fear of death. In fact, to reunite with the Divine one must experience death multiple times. Not as a result of multiple births and deaths, though that is necessary, but as a result of the death of pieces of one’s false self in each life. Through the maturation process, from infant to adult, one’s false self (also called ego) typically grows. The word “typically” is written here because it is possible, though improbable, to... Know Thyself. Know "God"

This post was inspired by a recent post of Bhaskar’s: "Know thyself". These words, inscribed on the Oracle of Delphi and often attributed to Socrates – it certainly was central to his philosophy – are the words that every one of us should take to heart before we decide the God or Gods that we wish to follow. Knowing ourselves means knowing what we are about. It means that we have questioned ourselves about our moral compasses. It means we have questioned ourselves about our beliefs and have... An Interesting Explanation of the Tree of Life

The following is an interesting explanation of the Tree of Life from an Essene point of view: The Essene Tree of Life represented fourteen positive forces, seven of them heavenly or cosmic forces and seven earthly or terrestrial forces. The Tree was pictured as having seven roots reaching down into the earth and seven branches extending up toward the heavens, thus symbolizing man's relationship to both earth and heaven. Man was pictured in the center of the tree half-way between heaven and... Sign in to see full entry.

Though I Speak With the Tongues of Angels, But Have Not Love, I am Nothing

The following is another passage from the Essene Gospel of Peace, Book 1. The Essenes, for those not aware, were a Judaic religious group that flourished from the 2nd century B.C. through the 1st century A.D. I found this passage to be a very powerful statement about Love as the key to all happiness. And it's interesting to note how close the closing of this passage is to 1 Cor. 13:13: "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become as sounding brass or a... "All Living Things Are Nearer to God then to Scripture, Which Has no Life"

I mean no disrespect for what you are about to read. This is merely my belief about a topic very close to me: And Jesus answered: "Seek not the law in your scriptures, for the law is life, whereas the scripture is dead. I tell you truly, Moses received not his laws from God in writing, but through the living word. The law is living word of living God to living prophets for living men. In everything that is life is the law written. You find it in the grass, in the tree, in the river, in the... Sign in to see full entry.

How Do You Get Your True Self to be Your Only Self?

Whenever I want to write, or read, about religion, I have to get into a certain frame of mind. I have to move from the “daily” frame of mind that I awake in each day, and spend most of my time in, and move into a different state of consciousness, for lack of a better term. I do this by slipping into a meditative state. A couple of deep breaths, a quieting of my mind, and I am there. I am very loving, very in touch with the “still small voice within”. It always works for me, and it comes so... Sign in to see full entry.
