Happy Day to All Fathers -- And All Week Too!

I was awakened by my kids who gave me ice ceam, cake, bratworst, corn bread and Diet Coke. Also, something I have always wanted -- The Ninth Season of SEINFELD! So, apart from a brief jaunt over to their friends for a party, I have been watching all the 1997 -- 98 shows that I missed. I really... Sign in to see full entry.

North High School Inundated Despite National Guard and Volunteers

This morning about eight o'clock the Birdland Levee, at the bottom of the kingmi hill, breached. I awoke to the devastating news that North High School is completely flooded. Very sad indeed. The Iowa Governor was on TV stating that this is the single worst natural disaster that Iowa has ever... Sign in to see full entry.

Hurrah For the Iowa National Guard!

North High School will not flood! Last evening about dark, before they went back to Camp Dodge for the night, the National Guard pulled into the North High School parking lot, locked and loaded. They filled six thousand bags with sand and topped off the Birdland Levee. This levee was predicted to... Sign in to see full entry.

OMG! Flooding, Evacuations, Shelter in My School

Well here's what's happening. We were supposed to be fine levee-wise until last night. Another round of storms left five inches of rain where it wasn't needed. So the neighborhoods starting at the bottom of our hill are evacuating. North High School will flood along with the homes and businesses... Sign in to see full entry.

She Has Plenty of Cute France Stories to Tell.

I had a sleepless night last night. My days and nights are getting turned around already. I finally dozed off about five AM. This is when I get up during the school year. June is so delicious for teachers! But we had a half inch of rain here, more north of here. The provisions made here post-1993... Sign in to see full entry.

Black Reebok walking shoes, white ankle sweat socks, white knee length basketball shorts, black 2x zip up Nike top, long sleeved with a white racing stripe over the shoulders and down the outside of the sleeves. My walking uniform for the summer. I got the call at two-thirty PM. The French class... Sign in to see full entry.

Today as I passed through the check out line at TARGET the lady said, "do you want your cake separate?" I responded yes, but then waited till it was all done and I was on my way out before saying to her,"by the way, it isn't a cake, it's a tort." That was why I went to TARGET and not Walmart or any... Now I Have My Own Magic Bus!

Well, where did I leave off? Saturday my Caitlin took me out to the mall for ice cream, a new CD (The Who Ultimate Collection), and a pedicure. We passed up a movie to spend the evening with my mother at her hospital bed. Caitlin is a certified nurse's aid so she pitched in and helped to make Mama... Sign in to see full entry.

Music Deep Into the Night

With the strategy of going to bed early I was able to get uo before eleven and stay up. I listened to music after the news went off, then lay in bed listening on ear buds. "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" seems to be Pink Floyd's encouragement to all of us suffering "future shock". Emotional upset that... Sign in to see full entry.

Four Inches of Rain Overnight -- Flooding All Over Town

I got a text message from my traveling daughter last night during the storm, answered her three times, and never heard back. I thought perhaps my power was out. But I logged onto the dialup desktop. Everything was working although a tad slow. So, I opened the back door, brought in the dog from the... Sign in to see full entry.
