LET ME CLARIFY...

In my last post, I was discussing the Latino community where I live and someone thought that the little boy I was speaking of at the grocery store was probably known to the store manager. That was not the case. No one knew who the boy belonged to, which is why I got so upset because they wouldn't... Sign in to see full entry.

RASCISM, MY EYE!!!

I just saw the news clip about the woman who's claiming rascism is the reason her baby was killed a while back by police officers as she was held by her lunatic father! Balderdash! Maybe she doesn't fully remember what happened but I do! The baby's father was out of control and waving a gun and then... Sign in to see full entry.

A NEW TITLE FOR THIS BLOG

Though Katrina is still a big issue, it's not the only current issue and I thought this blog needed a new title to reflect that. I still may share family memories occasionally but, for the most part, I will likely be writing about things more relative to each day. I certainly hope you will continue... PRAYERS WORKED IN SPITE OF RITA'S PATH

Despite the fact that Rita did create havoc in southern Texas and Louisiana, at least there are no reports of deaths at this point. I don't mean to minimize the loss that people have suffered but at least this wasn't any where near the damage that Katrina did. Unfortunately, it did send more water... Sign in to see full entry.

DIE, RITA, DIE!!!

Okay, now this is not funny! First, Katrina destroys five homes owned by my family and close friends and now Rita is headed toward Texas where the rest of my family lives! While they don't live down by the coast, I do have an Aunt and Uncle and their five children and their families in the Austin... Sign in to see full entry.

ALL ABOARD! THE MAGNOLIA BLOSSOM AWAITS!

Since I've been thinking about all my memories of south Mississippi lately, another one popped up that I thought I'd share. I told you guys earlier that my family owned/owns a plantation home in Gautier, MS called The Old Place, which had been turned into a tourist spot/museum. Well, my cousin, who... NOT AGAIN!!!

I'm sure most of you have heard about Hurricane Rita that is deluging Florida with rain. Please pray for this one not to go up toward the Gulf Coast. Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana don't need any more hurricanes and neither does Florida. And, our country doesn't need any more damage to recover... Sign in to see full entry.

DON'T BECOME COMPLACENT

I know that it's going to be very easy for those of us who still have our lives in tact to become complacent and let the victims of Katrina slip from our minds. It's just normal that we would want to put the unpleasantness out of our minds after we've given a few dollars because it's painful. But... Sign in to see full entry.

EMOTIONS JUST BELOW THE SURFACE

It's funny but every time I think I'm past the emotions of what happened down in Mississippi, someone says something or I start talking about it or see something on the news and I find myself fighting back tears again. Just the memories that have been coming back over the past couple of weeks and... Sign in to see full entry.

FACING DEVASTATION FOR THE FIRST TIME

My aunt went back to what was left of her house a couple of days ago. New Orleans isn't the only place still under water. My aunt had to wade through her house. Now, you have to understand that my aunt has a great sense of humor and always looks for something funny in situations. Thank God! Anyway,... Sign in to see full entry.
