According to what I've read, this is a kind of cycle and not...

...from the effects of global warming (though pollution certainly doesn't help).

I haven't checked yet to see where Rita is at this time, but I hope it wil either calm down or else hit in a less populated area where all of the people are far away.

I Hate...

...to see lives ruined.

On the other hand, there's something intrinsically right about the world's biggest polluter, and the biggest user of fossil fuels (6% of the worlds population using 25% of fossil resources) getting clobbered by the early effects of climate change.

God's idea of justice, perhaps?

That aside, I hope your family and friends are all OK.
