You Never Know Who Is Listening

Lead your life so you won't be ashamed to sell the family parrot to the town gossip. This reminds me of a story I've carried with me since the early sixties, when all women had to squeeze themselves into girdles. Even thin women wore them. They were tight and difficult to shimmy into. I guess there was no such thing as being too thin. Just check out the waistlines on Donna Reed, June Cleaver and other TV housewives of that era. There was a woman living in our town who had a very clever parakeet.... Sign in to see full entry.

It's A Start

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to McDonald's makes you a hamburger. No more than standing in a garage makes you a car. (but...it's a start!) Worship in a place of your choice. Sign in to see full entry.

The Three Trees

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, "Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty." Then the second tree said, "Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of... Sign in to see full entry.

In Memory of Harley

My husband, Jay's brother and wife were surprised when their senior Airedale dog, Harley, quite unexpectedly and suddenly took ill last week. The vet discovered that he had advanced stage prostate cancer. They were advised there was nothing they could do but put him down. Here's a picture of Harley at our 2004 Christmas gathering. Sylvia Browne says all our pets are there to greet us when we pass over and yes, we DO remember every single one of their names. The following passage is an excerpt... Sign in to see full entry.

A Handy Table

God's promises -- This is a haphazardly laid out table, but I think it makes sense. I just got seranaded as my little dog, Millie, sang along with the music! YOU SAY GOD SAYS BIBLE VERSES You say: "It's impossible." God says: All things are possible. (Luke 18:27) You say: "I'm too tired." God says: I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28-30) You say: "Nobody really loves me." God says: I love you. (John 3:1 6 & John 3:34) You say: "I can't go on." God says: My grace is sufficient. (II Corinthians... What Did I Do?

I recently sent two cards, to two people who held me in ill repute: my former principal and his wife of over 50 years, was fired from his job. I was president of the Teacher's Union and as such had been obliged to attend some of the final meetings concerned in the teachers who were meeting with the superintendent. It is not easy to get fired. He had some flaws and some teachers couldn't take them anymore. I heard later that he held me and another teacher directly responsible for his getting... A Letter from God

When you're down to nothing, God is up to something. She jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. She said: "How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?" The surgeon said, "I'm sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn't make it." Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer? Doesn't God care any more? Where were you, God, when my son needed you?" The surgeon asked, "Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the nurses... Sign in to see full entry.

A Prayer

This came to me via e-mail. I reworked a few parts to work for me and I thought I would share this with all of you, especially as the spring swoops in with green grass, gentle blossoms, the chirping of songbirds at sunrise and the songs of the mating frogs in nearby ponds. The spring is always a rebirth to me, even as we lay loved ones to rest as I craft a sympathy card to go out in tomorrow's mail. It is a reminder of the never ending cycle of life and spirit -- one ends and another begins. The... Sign in to see full entry.

Twinkies and Root Beer A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie. The man... Sign in to see full entry.

The Parachute

Charles Plumb was a US Navy jet pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands. He was captured and spent 6 years in a Communist Vietnamese prison. He survived the ordeal and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience! One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man at another table came up and said, "You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft... An Anniversary Date

This is our brother, Clark, and his wife, Donna 1996 Today, the 13th of April, marks a sad time for the living in our family. Our dear younger brother, Robert Clark, left his suffering behind him and is living, very happily, on the other side. Our psychic friend said he is so happy there. And Sylvia Browne would quip right in there with, "He's in Heaven. How could you not be happy there??" It's like saying, "Well duh." Clark had been in a near fatal car accident in 1973. He was a passenger in... Sign in to see full entry.

Life is RICH!

My sister and my niece both experienced burst pipes this winter. In Prescott, Arizona, the water pipes run across ceilings unlike most homes in my neck of the woods, where they are underground or go up the outside walls. Our photography studio had pipes running across the ceiling, however, and my husband made sure he left a trickle of water running overnight to keep the pipes from freezing. It seemed to do the trick. We had outrageous heating bills, but our pipes never burst. In both Arizona... Sign in to see full entry.

Believer in Signs I Am

I remember telling Mike how I didn't believe in coincidence. This picture plus caption I saw made me remember one incident in particular. I was traveling to my daughter's after having finished a class. She was putting me up for the night and I was looking forward to a girl's night out before class resumed the next day. For some reason, I thought to check my gas gauge, in the middle of rush hour on the city's interstate. Yikes! I hadn't even thought to check it for days and I was running on below...
