One Day at a Time

Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen. Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971) Sign in to see full entry.

I NEEDED WASHING

This is me, CeeMarie, age 17, playing in a warm rain, captured on film by Jay. The last time we ran in the rain was in Boston, 2000. My sister had booked four tickets on a "Blues Cruise" down the Charles River the first night we arrived. As we parked the car, we had no idea at which pier our cruise boat was docked, but it was pouring rain and we had little time to spare. I will never forget the shock of icy cold water that drenched us immediately upon stepping out of the car. We had to run to... Sign in to see full entry.

Making Do

readers: She makes a great point about using the time we have left to accomplish remarkable things. written by Barbara Trisler On Nov. 18, 1995, Yitzhak Perlman, the esteemed violinist, came on stage to give a concert in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. If you have ever been to a Perlman concert, you know that preparing to perform is no small achievement for him. He was stricken with polio as a child and has braces on both legs. He walks with the aid of two crutches. To see... Sign in to see full entry.

Beliefs and Friends

It's so good to have Maggie back! She sent out via e-mail a list of beliefs and how they pertain to our friends. As I read through the list, I thought of a little story for each belief statement. I will pull from old photographs that dovetail with my story or the belief. I believe- That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change. Isn't this a concept you would like to teach our children, and drive it home, especially around middle school age? Clicks and groups at that... Sign in to see full entry.

The 57 Cent Church

I was sent this story in my e-mail and am sharing it with you. I did a little research on the topic and found this portrait of the little girl of whom you will read, Hattie Mae. For more about this true story, visit: http://library.temple.edu/collections/special_collections/hattie.jsp http://library.temple.edu/collections/special_collections/hattie_may2.jpg A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded." "I can't go to Sunday School," she... Sign in to see full entry.

Are You a Carrot?

A friend mailed this to me and I thought I would share this with my Blogit friends! Enjoy!! A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she... Sign in to see full entry.

The Eye of God

In my e-mail, I received a photograph of a helix nebula dubbed the Eye of God. You were supposed to look at it for a minute, make a wish and see if it didn't change your life. I always try these silly things, hoping they're not so silly! I prayed instead of just wishing while wondering how long it might take until I could tell if it was true. I wanted to share this photograph with all of you, but decided to check it out at Snopes.com first. I copied what I found out about it. I will pass it on... Sign in to see full entry.

The Power of Smiles

disclaimer: This is NOT ceemarie's personal history, although this woman could be my kindred spirit. I'm sorry if I gave this impression before writing this disclaimer. Breakfast at McDonald's Please read until the end. This is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until the end! The Final Analysis

The Final Analysis People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-center, Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people will cheat you. Be honest anyway. What you spend years building, someone may destroy over night. Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The... Sign in to see full entry.
