The 10,000 Calorie Day

Tonight we had dinner at our favorite serve-yourself buffet. We thought it would be dead because there are so many July 4th activities going on this year, but we found two giant tour busses decorated with Chinese lettering in the parking lot. We went in and were surprised to find no line. The... Sign in to see full entry.

A Prayer for America

I got the idea for this prayer from the National Day of Prayer website. Their prayer was unfortunately 100% Chrisitan, even ending with the phrase “we pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” I took their ideas and wrote a prayer that aims to be in clusive, not ex clusive. I still... Sign in to see full entry.

Wimpy!

I was going to blog about how crazy the Otter and I were to blade in this extreme heat. Then I checked The Weather Channel and found out it's only 95! Gosh, we're weak! Sign in to see full entry.

Springer worse than Ventura?

Jerry Springer is running for a senate seat in Ohio. On NPR today someone who presumably speaks for the Democratic party says it would be very embarrasing if he was nominated and ran. But is he any more embarrasing to Democrats than Jessie Ventura, the pro wrestler, was to Republicans? NPR played a... Sign in to see full entry.

Pedants!

Are we the only people to design a house from the inside out? I think this only makes sense! Many times we've had unusual ideas that were later praised or adopted by others, but in this case, I can't believe we're odd! We're either idiotic, or ingenious. Sign in to see full entry.

Anti Anti-TV Rant

The stupidest TV-related concept is the inevitable timing of the annual "turn off your TV" week for spring sweeps. The second stupidest TV-related concept can be found in the latest issue of Woman's Day magazine. They suggest gradually cutting your family's TV time to one hour per day "period." I... The Good, the Bad and the Queen of Drudge

Ladies and Gentlemen: it's time for another rousing game of "Good Bunny Day, Bad Bunny Day." The object of the game is to determine whether the Bunny had a good day or a bad day. Let's play along at home! At at 8am, the contractor calls the Bunny to reschedule the bathroom demolition. The Bunny gets... Sign in to see full entry.

Quads and Mraz

We went skating at the rink today, and Otter told me that since I never really had my traditional nice birthday dinner, we could either go out for a fancy dinner and jazz, or we could buy me the cool pair of rhythm skates I saw at the skate shop last week. I chose the skates, of course! These are... Sign in to see full entry.

Potato Salad It Is!

Garrison Keillor has a fantastic rant on the patriotic importance of good potato salad on the 4th of July. I'm convinced! I would post my recipe, but he describes it perfectly. Random Notes: Yesterday on Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me! one of the questions was about a San Diego weatherman who forgot to... Sign in to see full entry.

The greatest invention EVER!

One of the good things about my birthday week was that Otter gave me a pocket PC. (A Dell Axim, for those who want to know.) I am generally very happy with it because it's a giant improvement over my Psion, but I am thrilled that it can play mp3s! You have to understand that I bought my car in 1996,...
