Is it a mindless waste of time when you're doing something useful as well?

I'm talking about TV, of course. If I'm chopping veggies and cooking hotdogs (giant kosher beef franks, of course!) on the stove and watching reruns of King of the Hill-- one of my least favorite shows-- at the same time, am I rotting my brain? Not as much, I guess, as if I were watching the local... Sign in to see full entry.

Get good fries at....

Giant Hamburger in Mesa. If you're in Mesa, Arizona, that is. Otter ate there and liked it while I was out of town. I was running an errand in the area, so I went there for a burger and fries. YUMMY, CRISPY SEASONED FRIES! The burger was good, too, although they use too much inferior mayonnaise.... Sign in to see full entry.

If I had a million dollars....

I still don't think I'd spend all of it on a million-dollar home. Maybe if I had several million dollars I would do that. I've been interviewing builders and architects, and apparently in custom-builder and architect fantasy land, everyone who builds a home of our size in our area spends at least a... Baby's First Face Masque

The Baby Bunny is not quite thirteen, but her face is beginning to break out a little bit. Tonight after her shower I had her try my Queen Helene Mint Julep Face Masque. I doubt there's a woman reading this who hasn't used that product a one time or other in her life. One of my roommates in college... Sign in to see full entry.

We still need public phones

Today in the paper there was an article about the demise of public pay phones. Although I know they aren't very popular anymore, I hope each city and town makes sure there are still some around. Cell phones are far more convenient, but they break, and when you travel it's sometimes hard to get a... Sign in to see full entry.

Epidemic of really bad education?

It has now been four times that I have called Alltel directory assistance and have been told that the business I wish to reach is located on "SOW-thern Avenue." The people saying this don't have any particular type of accent upon which I can blame this bizarre pronunciation. They don't sound like... Sign in to see full entry.

It can't be senility yet!

It took me all morning-- I mean all morning, to remember the word "derivative." I was writing a blog post and I needed to use that adjective and.... nothing. I could even think of entire sentences I have recently written than contain it, but the exact words was completely gone from my head. I used... Sign in to see full entry.

Update to disturbingly biased news coverage

This afternoon the managing editior of the paper called me. He said that one other person had written to him about the same thing. He said he agreed the article was horribly unbalanced. The police didn't release the name of the victim until shortly before press time because they had to find the... Sign in to see full entry.

Here's a place no one needs to go

In the Phoenix area there's an "old west"-themed tourist attraction called Rawhide. It never sounded appealing to me, so I've never gone there. Today they advertised a special "clown convention." It sounded like it might be fun, so we went. If any readers are even in the Phoenix area, and you even... Sign in to see full entry.

Days three and four with less TV

Last night Otter came home in time to skate. Baby Bunny was busy watching the game, so Otter and I went out skating. We came back in an hour later, and the game was still on -- it went fifteen innings, and we still lost to the Cubs on the third out, bottom of the 15th, when someone hit a home run...
