falling apart

It's a Friday leading into a long weekend. Joy! Yesterday my work computer refused to start which seemed appropriate given my technological conspiracy blog earlier in the week. Its lead me to wonder what it would be like if someone's relationship with technological stuff was to completely break... Sign in to see full entry.

waiting for a bus at a chat site

I'm not sure that I really get chat sites. They seem to be spaces on the net where people, with nothing to really say, greet each other and then just hang around being bored together and wait for something interesting to happen. It seems to be like waiting for a bus that never comes. Occasionally... Sign in to see full entry.

technological conspiracy

I often find I have to negotiate with a technological conspiracy in the early morning hours. Its a conspiracy involving this laptop computer, henceforth to be called Mr. Freeze, and my kettle, henceforth to be called The Philosopher. Mr. Freeze basically acts according to his name and becomes stuck... Sign in to see full entry.

monday monday

Monday: the day that inspires sad songs about heart break, distrust and psycho-pathological rage. I made my way down to the bus as per usual. In the short cut alley way there was a pair of black panties whistfully disgarded. I walked on with music in my ears. Down at the beach the usual bunch of... Sign in to see full entry.

running distance

The Bridge Run was on this morning. It started North Sydney then over the Bridge, past Circular Quay and a quick harbourside circuit culminating at the finish line in front of the Opera House. It was a little saner than the City to Surf and general a more pleasant run. There was still a lot of... Sign in to see full entry.

my eternal sunshine moment

Over a month since breaking up and you hit an Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind period which revolves around the presence of old txt messages. I'm sure a doctorate could be written concerning the relationship of memory to stored txt messages on mobile phones. You read these old messages, the... Sign in to see full entry.

morning impressions

Friday, O Friday, I kiss your pretty lips! Things I experienced on the way to work: a BBC interview with the guy who invented emoticons twenty five years ago; the smell of freshly baked bread as I walked past a bakery; the sight of a bunch of fools who paid money to do a boot camp down by the beach... emerging characters

Somewhat sleep deprived. I'll be needing coffee through the day. I'm continuing to work on my novel. The characters roll around inside my psyche and I'm captivated. It's possibly the first time I've felt characters emerging that have a reel emotional and moral complexity. But I don't want to blog... Sign in to see full entry.

woken by insomniac birds

The kookaburras started up at 4 am this morning so I'm up, bugged eyed, sipping coffee and knocking off a blog while listening to a BBC podcast. I love the frumpy cranky old man quality of some BBC journalists and commentators. They actually know how to vigorously interview people. Yes just like... Sign in to see full entry.

travelling south

There's something profoundly good about Melbourne. I spent little more than a day there yesterday and in that time I managed to have a superb breakfast experience in a restaurant called "The Commoner" in Johnston Street, Fitzroy. Forget about your standard, by the numbers, Saturday morning bacon and... Sign in to see full entry.
