CP

A very interesting comment on a poem I haven't read, but the comment can certainly stand on its own. I

In my view, to see historical events and processes in terms of 'ego' is, with all due respect, nonsense. To be sure, there may be occasions where it may have some validity, but they're rare. It is often of questionable use even in attempting to understand the events in an individual's life!

That 'God is Love', universally understood, is a Christian concept that throughout history been observed only in the breech! The Muslim concept of God's love is radically different to begin with: Allah loves only those inside the dar al-Islam, the House of Submission, under Sharia law; all others are in the dar al-harb, the House of War, or at best in dhimmitude, a state of dependency, and are not loved!

There may be many moderates in the Arab world who would be willing to permit other faiths to exist in their midst, as was the case in the Ottoman empire, and is still the case to some degree even today. But I am afraid the trend is in the other direction...

And when it comes to practical matters, the very first step will have to be a clear, unequivocal declaration by all Muslim states that guarantees Israel's right to exist...

Life, Love & God
Hi Carl, thanks for initiating a healthy dialogue on this subject important to all of us. I've just posted two poems on the subject and written a detailed response to your perceptive comments on my blog. Sincerely, Ash Pradhan.

New Comment on War, Ego and God

I sometimes feel as if this global solidified lava bed upon which we depend, is not viewed by those "determined to disrupt" as the small lichen covered stone wobblling through space that it really is.  Better to kill one another than to contemplate -- and finally understand --such a truth.  One is the price of a bullet. The other . . . priceless.  Good, good, read.

Thank you for stimulating my thoughts. joab

God Is Love!

And that's a fact, Jack! It's good to hear someone saying what is so apparent to me. Thanks for writing such a rewarding blog. Everyone should read it and take heed. Love is the only answer.
