The girls next door are pixies. Yesterday when their mom came home for lunch, she rang my doorbell & asked if I'd mind keeping an eye on them for an hour or so. She had a present she wanted to buy for them and couldn't find a sitter. The present was a life-like kitty to sit on the bed or a pillow.... Sign in to see full entry.

Push Me - Pull Me and Bite Your Tongue
Do I start with a pre-Christmas broken heart, or the Santa came early thing? It's never just one thing at a time in this life, is it? There's always the giveth and the taketh away -- a moment on the lips - forever on the hips -- sands through the hour glass. Joe came over last night, around 5:30 or... Sign in to see full entry.

I finally decided what to get the distant kids for Christmas...
Best Buy gift cards. They're into electronic thing-a-ma-bobs and Ipod things, but I don't have a clue which ones they have, which ones are compatible -- all I know is they go to Best Buy for all kinds of things. So as soon as I can talk myself into getting out and about, I'm heading for the big... Sign in to see full entry.

Old People's Music
For some reason I'm on a nostalgia kick. There was something on PBS this week about wide open spaces, about this place in Kansas, the Flint Hills, where the population is about the same as it was years ago and people raise grass-fed cattle on miles of pastureland. They've resisted the efforts of... Sign in to see full entry.

Michael's and a Mini Craft splurge...
A week or two ago Corbin posted a kitty picture. This isn't the news. The picture was of a couple very ticked off cats, one in a red fuzzy Santa hat, and one in a blue skullcap and scarf with the Star of David. Their names could only be Bah! and Humbug! Couple days ago I went to Michael's, jammed... Sign in to see full entry.

Lee Harvy Oswald's Coffin
Some time after his interment, LHO's body was exhumed and he was later reburied in a new box. Why, I don't know -- maybe CSI needed another look at the assassin's brain or something. Maybe the family just decided he needed a plushier resting place. At any rate, I just heard on NPR that the funeral... Sign in to see full entry.

Aspergers Syndrome
At least to me, this is fairly new. I heard interviews with an author who learned to overcome it, wrote a book. Then I realized that certain people I took for shy and awkward actually had symptoms of it. Extremely bright but impulsive, prone to inappropriate questions or behaviors. A bit obsessive... Got my first Christmas gift yesterday...
About 6:00, I was piddling around on the computer, thinking of life and death and what's it all about, the usual thing while waiting for my crockpot chili to be done, when the phone rang. It was Joe, my son. He'd just got in from work, was getting ready to head for St. Louis to have the usual... Sign in to see full entry.

Into the Great Beyond
Cyberspace. Nowhere. Out there somewhere. It's where things go after you hit delete. And now Isabel has gone there. She tired, even sickened of the game she'd played with George. It occured to her she'd been about to leave him when she was so rudely interrupted. She begins to wonder why she... Sign in to see full entry.
