Truck vs Blogger, Truck Wins, Sort of...IV

Yesterday I had surgery on my thumb. Today I look like the character in a cartoon, on crutches, one leg in a brace, one arm in a cast, who’s being asked, ‘Were you hit by a truck?’ ‘No, I just suggested to my wife she might lose a little weight!” ‘Oh? Most of this past week I spent in waiting rooms, either at my own doctor’s office or at hospitals. I worked out the ratio of time spent waiting vs. time spent talking to or being examined by a physician: in my case it comes to almost exactly three hours of waiting to five minutes of direct contact... I am not used to being incapacitated. I am not used to having to ascend stairs one step at a time, placing my crutch, moving my ‘good’ right leg first, while shifting the weight on my left side onto my crutch.
