If your mother says she loves you, check it out
The title comes from something supervisors at Chicago's City News Bureau used to tell cub reporters. It was a way of telling them to check out every single fact - even something as seemingly self-evident as the chemical formula for water, or (as my title suggests) whether or not your mother loves you - so that the City News Bureau could deliver accurate news reports to its client newspapers.
