All In A Day's Work

It’s 1430 and my day seems to be slipping away from me like a mug of cold tea down the drain. I am frequently amazed at how quickly my time off disappears, but how long it takes for me to work my way through the week. It doesn’t help that I’m sniveling and coughing with the common cold at the moment... Sign in to see full entry.

Odd Noticings While Walking the Dog

Really a very odd observation it was I had the other day. I was minding my own business, walking through the neighborhood, the Mutt on her leash traipsing along in her usual happy frame of mind. It was an extremely gray day (very common in Michigan), nearing the point of rain. Everything about the... Sign in to see full entry.

What DO You See . . . What DO You See When You're Looking at Me?

I love people watching and looking, in particular, at peoples’ faces. I come by this naturally, I suppose, since my grandmother’s favorite occupation when I was a kid was going to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and watching people. Back in those days, of course, you could get there early... Sign in to see full entry.

The "Living Cadaver" whose Protruding Coccyx I Can SEE . . . .

Today I peered into a vast wound and looked directly at the tip of a woman’s tailbone. Not the shadow of a tailbone that one might see imprinted on a bony individual’s skin; rather, it was the actual bone poking through the skin of a sort of living woman. In most of us the tip of the coccyx (AKA... Sign in to see full entry.

On Christmas Shopping, A "Blankety Blank" Dog, and Banana Bread!

I burned through some serious money yesterday and did everything possible to help support the local economy. I haven’t tallied up all the money spent, but believe it was somewhere in the vicinity of $300. That’s still a mere pittance compared with what many folks spend, but I’d say it represents... Cooking – Au Naturale – With Chemicals!

I set out to make sugar cookies this evening for a party I’m attending tomorrow. Following the recipe I added 1.5 cups of powdered sugar, 1 cup of butter, the egg... and then the recipe called for one half teaspoon of almond extract. Sure, no problem, I retrieved the small glass vial from its shelf... Sign in to see full entry.

Might I Just Take A Moment to Brag?

About my niece? She'll be sweet 16 in January, and she is a jewel. She called me today, about an hour ago. When I answered the phone with my cheery "HELLO," I heard a cheery response in the form of a song: “Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and when you’ve no place... Satisfy Your Cravings With the PERFECT Diet!

Heard about the Brigham Young University professor who lost 50 pounds eating anything he wanted? When he went shopping he bought whatever looked good to him and whatever he was craving at the time. Then, when he had a craving for, say, M&Ms, he’d eat some. As well, he only ate when he was hungry.... Sign in to see full entry.

NO Heels, NO Balls, What's a Gal To Do????

It happens every fall. My feet get cold, so I pull out my warm fuzzy lambs wool socks and tend to live in them for the next six months. The only problem with these socks, probably because they’re so cheaply made, is that they get a build up of fuzz balls after each washing. I put on a pair of clean... Sign in to see full entry.

Two Little Boys Upchucking and Wailing, Upchucking and Wailing . . . .

It was sort of an odd day, this usually much loved Thanksgiving holiday. Normally, it’s one of those warm, cozy days that the family looks forward to and loves and then talks about for weeks following. I wouldn’t say that, however, about this particular holiday. The day started at church, and that... Sign in to see full entry.
