December

The last month of the year is here. In my Georgia O'Keefe calendar which sits to the right side of my work space, the painting for the month is is White Flower, a 1932 o il on board. It's beautiful. A single white flower, with hues of green, yellow and black. I am sad that this beautiful calendar... Sign in to see full entry.

Lunch at the Triveni

Yesterday, Krish and I had lunch at Triveni. I had my tooth crowned at 12 PM and my mouth was stinging like hell. Lunch at 1.30, said Atul Tulli, the dentist. It will be over soon, he assured me as I complained about my burning mouth. So, after dropping Mahesh at the Habitat Centre, Krish and I... Sign in to see full entry.

Nature Bazaar, revisited

I went back to the Nature Bazaar (see previous posting) with my friend Krish yesterday. It was a very balmy day - which means slight sun, slight haze and thus, inclination towards slight movement! Our friend Krish, arrived on Saturday and yesterday we set out at about 2.30 PM after a cup of home... Sign in to see full entry.

After the nightmare, questions

Well, as I write this, the hostage crisis is over, as of 12 hours ago. Now to pick up the pieces. Yesterday, there were local elections in Delhi. But, you wouldn't now it, at least from the news media - where the preoccupation was the hostage crisis. This morning's papers did write about the huge... Sign in to see full entry.

The Hostage Crisis

Well, the hostage crisis continues. More have died, some are out and it seems like things are winding down. There is a high alert in Mumbai and also in Delhi. However, moving around in Delhi today, everyone seemed to be doing what they usually do. The news channels on TV only show the hostage... Sign in to see full entry.

Terrorists at our door

As I write this, Mumbai, the largest city in India is under attack. Last night we came home at 11.30 PM. I went to the bedroom to change my clothes and came out. My husband had the TV on the news channel and said terrorists had attacked Mumbai. Taj Hotel (I had posted a picture of this in my blog on... Sign in to see full entry.

The Nature Bazaar

Today, I visited the Nature Bazaar. It's an annual event, organised by Dastakaar, a cooperative of crafts and craftspeople. It is in the very beautiful open air space called Dilli Haat. Dilli refers to Delhi and Haat is an open air market. This is a permanent space, open everyday from 10 to 8 and... Sign in to see full entry.

A Thing of Beauty

Every now and then, I come across something of great beauty. The two photographs I am posting here are of a lamp that hangs in the back balcony garden at my sister Saroj's house. She's had this lamp for a long time, but I only took these photos this Diwali, one month ago. The lamp is from South... Sign in to see full entry.

Nourishing the Spirit

I need to take time to nourish the spirit. Yesterday, I did several things towards this. First, I spent a few hours on the sunny terrace at home. After weeks, the haze which had been surrounding us lifted. Three nights ago a storm lashed the city. The trees, bushes and plants swayed, there was... Sign in to see full entry.

Enter my home

This beautiful pot of blooms sits on the left side of the front door to our home. I just love it. Everytime I enter the home, it fills my heart. My eyes are so happy that it's there. I thank the gardener who took the effort to put it there. As the backyard is being re-done, all our plants have been... Sign in to see full entry.
