Playing hooky

Ok, so I'm supposed to be a responsible adult and work hard all day at my job. Today I just couldn't muster the gumption to do it. The workplace is rife with postering and politic-ing and on a good day it's a drag my as# type of situation. I looked out my window when the alarm went off, it was cold,... Have you ever been so tired your hair hurts?

I've been whirl-winding today, cleaning my house from top to bottom of the dust and bits of wood left behind by the floor and tile installation this week. I feel like I've been hit by a truck, every part of my body hurts! I think I'll soak in the tub 'til I'm pruney and crawl into bed. Why doesn't... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm baaaacccckkkkk......'

Well the floor install is complete, the computer is out of the bathtub and back on it's desk where it belongs. The rest of the house however is in total chaos but if you look beyong the furniture piled into the kitchen and the wood dust everywhere it looks FANTASTIC! Tomorrow will be a whirwind of... Offline for a few days

Today is my last day to post from home. I'm having new floors put in my place so all the furniture needs to get piled into whatever rooms they aren't working on. The computer will have a new home in the bathtub for a few days. Luckily I have an extra bathroom so hopefully it won't get wet. Talk to... Sign in to see full entry.

A funny for all the Canadians out there

Read this today and had a giggle, hope it makes you laugh too. Why We Have An Oil Shortage In Canada! A lot of folks can't understand how we came to Have an oil shortage here in Canada Well, there's a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low. The... Sign in to see full entry.

Some advice from Blogitland

I want to ask your opinion on an issue I'm grappling with these days. It's one of those touchy subjects that families encounter and aren't good at dealing with I think....money. My one child (married, with a family) isn't good with managing finances. They don't spend terrificly extravangtly but have... Sign in to see full entry.

The ongoing saga of living in the frigid north

Last week the area I live in was hit with some doozy snow/ice storms. Nothing like what the poor folks in NY State and elsewhere received but a pain in the buttress in any event. The recent warmer temps has lead to water main breaks and, Wednesday night, a series of power transformer burnouts. Here... Sign in to see full entry.

Living Will

This is the funniest I've seen in a while (and perfectly true in my case!) I,Divine Diva, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade... Sign in to see full entry.

What's that in Fahrenheit?

So you've all heard the stories about Canada being 'the fridgid north'. For some obtuse reason we also adopted the metric system years ago so we no longer talk in inches, feet, acres or fahrenheit. Today on my commute to work there was a discussion on the radio about the temperature that morning.... Sign in to see full entry.

Well this is different

It was a dark and stormy night.... Another milestone in my household today. My daughter (age 25) moved to her own place so I am officially an empty nester. The nest is empty, the chicks have flown! It's the oddest feeling. I've been a Mom, looking after everyone, for more years than I haven't been... Sign in to see full entry.
