I have days like that. They're great, but also terribly infuriating to the boss, who, I think would like to fire me sometimes. But he can't, for the same reason I can't quit, as much as I would like to sometimes...

Of course all my new found rest went down the toilet this morning with a spring snowfall that made my commute to work 2 1/2 hours

Good for you!
A former coworker of mine used to plan days like that.  She called them "Mental Health Days."  She'd have at least one every few months.
