What I read at breakfast and I personally know this to be true.

Also, Central America, unspoken of, is also failing, failing failing and we care not, though it will change our priorities mightily in our children's future. Here: Mexico collapse? Drug wars worry some Americans By Traci Carl The Associated Press Tucson, Arizona | Published: 01.18.2009 MEXICO CITY – Indiscriminate kidnappings. Nearly daily beheadings. Gangs that mock and kill government agents. This isn't Iraq or Pakistan. It's Mexico, which the U.S. government and a growing number of experts... Sign in to see full entry.

Give it away, give it away, give it away...

That poor fellow who wants to garden for me arrived and I still have not one rupee to share, well, I did find about $1.50 in the car change thingie and gave him that for the bus. He's been in the hospital with pneumonia and is diabetic, too. Gave him a bunch of cds in Spanish as he is half O'Odham and half Mexican American. He says that he will listen to them and he may. But, if he sells them at ZIA's, well, money for him. Gave him some, three, angels to give to his sister as she wants to order... Sign in to see full entry.

Hit the young and cool spots in downtown Tucson last night, slept @ 4 a.m.

I may die but I will leave behind stories to tell. I put 475 pounds of belongings inside cardboard boxes into my car with little to no help. I met the funniest old man on Earth at the train station, my dad's age, who helped me to get them out of the car and into the train station. The station master blocked the six 50# boxes as overweight, so I went home, got more box tape and many cardboard boxes and returned to the station. The old fellow named himself Harry Truman when I asked for his name.... Sign in to see full entry.

I took Piya to the Casbah Tea House after picking her up at the airport.

We had a lovely time and I blogged about it here on my new blog about Tucson only. http://abuelitastucson.blogspot.com/ So many franchised places are so franchised and busy and full of the same people. The Casbah is always private feeling, even when full and I go back into the 60s when I am there and having fun with friends. It, like many businesses on 4th Avenue, is an old house redone into a small restaurant which serves vegan dishes. And the prices are so very reasonable that even poor old... Does it change a marriage, a relationship to have no "OUT" ?

Before divorce and in some religions, there was/is no leaving, no possibility, no alternative paths. Does this make people compromise, co-operate and work better together? So much of the world is this way. I wonder. Imagine this, please, for one moment. Thank you. We jump in and out of fantasy definitions of love, forming fantasy relationships with imagined partners, avoiding reality and all that proof before us that we are not who we pretend to be and they are not who they pretend to be and the... Royal's visit, he's my 4 mo. old grandson, was less than an hour, boo hoo.

His father dropped him off and left, the dogs licked his hands to eight times smaller than they had been when he first arrived and then tried to lick his face. When I said NO, Baby barked back at me and that made Royal jump, frightening him. Then he jumped and jumped and jumped while Baby barked and I had to put her outside. He kept jumping as that is his new thing this month. I made him a bottle and he drank it off and on, but not really. He talked to the dogs and they liked him for that. I... MIA for two days...kidnapped by Somalis and then babysitting Royal.

I was invited, very forcefully, to hit the Goodwill store and put some furniture inside my van for delivery to a Somali apartment. As I go about loading, etc. I hear gossip of a wedding and the decorating of the bride's new apartment. I am told to stop at another used furniture store and glass tables are purchased, huge fake rose arrangements, etched glasses and bedding for a princess. Rugs for covering carpeting, sofas and who knows what else. Grocery stops were added on the way to the... Sign in to see full entry.

We were 34 at my sister's Christmas feast, because not everyone could come.

Manish from Mumbai was flying off to New Jersey to find work after just getting his MIS master's degree. Piya was off in Boise with her two sisters from Zambia and I couldn't find Quizi Pu and Yen. Hiba was visiting from Madison, WI. and Jeoung Do said that his parents were visiting from Pusan, South Korea, so I invited them along. I worried about how they would handle our large and noisy crowd, but they claimed to have had a very enjoyable time. Even the talent show didn't make them toss up... Sign in to see full entry.

Grandma is confused by life choices and none look too great.

I am going to ignore reality and just visit with relatives for the next few days. I have too many really serious things to think about and don't want to right now. Avoidance works for awhile. This is my awhile. May all of your sweets be just sweet enough, your salties be just right and your chewies not separate your dentures from the roof of your mouth. I gave everyone discarded library books for Christmas. Each one the perfect book for the recipient. I have not wrapped the last one, the... Sign in to see full entry.

Grandma wants to blog, but is too wiped out to do much more than

crawl towards the bedroom at the end of each day. Whoever invented today's style of bed is to be worshipped as a saviour of human beings from all previous suffering while sleeping on earth, branches, netting, webbing, blankets, piles of hay or whatever. I love my bed more than ever this month. I really do. Sign in to see full entry.
