Hot and Windy Wednesday!

Another hot day before some proper springtime cool blows in tomorrow. Friday will be hot again, though. I rarely open the back door these days as there is a particular Cat determined to Go Outside. That's why it took a while to note that among the very thick foliage of the wisteria there are pretty purple blossoms! Sitting in the happy haze of accomplishment, I opened the last printed out version of the Lays last night and realized--Amy and I never discussed adding a contents page! So now we... On the verge of Huzzah!

Still in the cool of the morning now, at ~7AM and I've not yet buttoned up the house in expectation of 90s today. I love the sweetness of the early airs moving through the house at this time of day! Yesterday a milestone came into sight: My friend and professional manuscript formatter, over lunch, came to a final work-up of the collection of Tolkien tribute poems, Lays of Middle-earth. Still Summer

Expecting 90 today... And we got it. Down to 76 now, which suggests a good night. Two weeks from now the summer officially is on, and days will begin to shorten. I like the long evenings, but as the heat comes on, nighttime cool will be welcome. Sometime around late August I'll begin to feel autumn lurking even before leaves begin to lose their green. Summer coming in

Yep, it's summer all next week with temps in the 89s and 90s. Not looking forward to it. Will it last? Well, this is Colorado: it could snow any time! Just probably not next week. I picked up a couple of rugs this week, nice leafy designs that will look good in my bedroom. One of them already does but the larger one--I know where it needs to go but it will entail a whole lot of furniture shifting. It's doable--one small shift at a time will get it done. I've been stewing on this for a while...

grey Thursday...

I've not seen so many grey days in a row in Colorado in maybe ever! Not complaining, mind you... enjoying every drop of rain! Today will be clouds and blue patches, maybe some rain, too. Charlie is in Denver for the weekend, attending the FanExpo with the Denver Alliance LARPers. I might have gone--but too much driving in confusing places and way too much walking, and right now, just too much time away from home and Pixie. bad luck, good luck...

The bad luck was dumping some soup, in a moment of clumsiness, onto my laptop. Then, the computer guy telling me there's no fixin' it--it's done, finished, kaput! The good luck was being able to replace it with a new laptop, definite up-grade! And that transferring the info from the old one's hard drive to the new one only took a couple of hours! Stormy thoughts

Chilly and rainy today--all the rains and significant snows up in the mountains have made a dent in the droughty conditions, I'm glad to say. Our TAPS' post yesterday got me thinking about my tornado plan... Not that right here where the Rockies meet the Great Plains is prone to tornados, but it could happen. I'd go to the closet of the downstairs back room and have some shelf-stable foods in there, and water, and Pixie in her carrier. The downstairs is half underground and outside the window of... Waking up, washing up

The lilac blooms have passed from white to brown, all the trees are leafed out, Mother's Day has come and gone, and here it is snowing again. Last week, 80s. This week--freeze warning. Yep, this is Colorado! Yesterday was all kind of mindless and inert: recovery from the strenuous weekend, but today I feel much more here and ready to accomplish something.
