2035 Dry Heat Jugger Tournament, Tempe AZ: CHAMPIONS!

Charlie was so happy as he came over to tell me, he was all choked up: "We did it! We WON!" Fifteen teams gathered here in Tempe--several teams from California, several from Colorado, some locals, and one team from Virginia--competed for two days to decide the best, and Charlie's team the Marauders took the gold! Now we can go home, and in a couple of weeks when everyone has made it back and rested up, there will be a team party to celebrate! He went out with the team for food, and I'm here at... Road Trip!

The sky is growing light, and I've showered, had my pre-breakfast meds, and I'm thinking of making some oatmeal this morning, a good long-lasting meal! We have to pack the food supplies of which we have far more than needed considering all the places we can easily stop along the way. But we won't be caught out in a hotel room with nothing to gnosh! The weather looks good for the drive, and once again this year I almost feel guilty that we'll be basking in the 60s maybe 70s in Arizona where the... Sign in to see full entry.

Old is new again...

Yesterday I went through my first and oldest bloggery here on Blogit and copied most of it onto a new document. It's well over 300 pages if looked at as standard 8x11.5 inch pages. I'm doing this for a couple of reasons, the main one of which is to start up this whole thing over on Wordpress where it may get some wider readership. I won't get pennies for reads, but it will be fun to see where my words and thoughts travel. So far, with the introductions and first two posts put up there, they've... Sign in to see full entry.

The sun's up, the air was single-digit cold overnight, and it's going to be cold all day. Yesterday new yarn arrived! It was some time ago I ordered it, and had forgotten it was expected, so it's a treat! It's a nice wool/alpaca blend, hand-dyed in misty colors of grey, blue, purple and a dusky pink. The brand is Manos del Uruguay. I think it will be another shawl. So this is the week we get ready to drive down to Phoenix. I think we'll go across Arizona to Flagstaff then south through Sedona.... YoYo Colorado Weather!

Wind is up, and snow is dancing around every which way! Temps down in the 20s today, while we had near 40 yesterday and expect that for tomorrow. What snow doesn't blow away will melt everywhere except where it drifts deep or lies in shadows. High wind alert for the next several hours warns of winds 30-40mph, gusts to 60. The news from California is appalling... BBC reported on celebrities losing their homes, and one might sneer at that focus, but I think it humanizes people who have lived on... Tuesday is my Monday

The day is taking its time to get going this morning. Here it is, after 7, and the sky is a solemn grey. About two inches of snow are laid on the back porch rail. which is nothing to brag or complain about considering what some of you to the east are getting these past couple of days! It is cold, dropping to 14 last night, and today's high is not expected to get over 26F. I've just had breakfast, even before my usual routine of checking the NY Times for any news that they consider fit to print,... Sign in to see full entry.

yoyo weather

It has been a mostly quiet day, if you don't count 20 minutes of jackhammer out in front of the house that served as a wakeup call. It's been cool, going on down to really cold tonight, they say 18F, so it will be a little cooler than that. Charlie's all raspy-voiced next door and slept most of the day away. I crocheted much of the day, finally completing a shawl/blanket that I enjoy the thought of sending to my friend Patty in Maryland. She is around my age, she's had a rough year, and this... Almost...

I was awake just after 4 this morning, managed to stay tucked up in the warm and cozy until 5:15, well ahead of the alarm set for 5:45. Had to be up In Time today! I didn't hang out in my pjs but got dressed immediately, including extra layers for warmth, and was having breakfast by 6. We had to be out by 6:30 to be where we needed to be by 7. But, alas... Charlie messaged me as I was sitting down to eat: Too windy aloft: Event cancelled. It has been on my bucket list since before that movie... Sign in to see full entry.

The Between Times

This morning during the time between night and day, the clouds are just beginning to take on a bit of a blush, and the very thinnest crescent of the waning moon is visible behind the net of branches of a tree behind my house. I made soup last night for a low-carb meal after finishing off the pecan pie after lunch. This morning I added a beaten egg to the last of the soup to make it breakfast. Yesterday Charlie and I were up in Woodland Park at the Dinosaur Resource Center as vendors for their... Sign in to see full entry.

Christmas Eve Shenanigans

To start, it was only yesterday that it really sank in: Christmas Day is Wednesday, not Thursday. An d that meant today is Christmas Eve. For years now I've done the heavy cooking on the Eve and we've had the feast, slept full and content, and on Christmas Day Mom was not relegated to the kitchen while everyone else played with their new toys, read their new books. Instead, we parents often went back to bed as we'd been up all night making the magic. And eating was picking off leftovers all day.... Sign in to see full entry.
