Well I hope some form of compensation is on the books. You don't need this.

yes, you are right. They should pay for all the damages including the labor, and a rental. Most, if reputable, will even throw in some free oil changes etc. to compensate for their error. Good luck!

We had a similar experience with our old Volvo.
It started at Monroe Muffler with a needed inspection on our 2012 Volvo after a check engine light reared its ugly head. They delved deep, but could never find the cause of the "check engine" issue. They sent us to the Volvo Dealership who sent us back to Monroe, concluding that they were the ones who did the damage. From the last Monroe trip, on the way home, the head gasket blew. This is where I became as perplexed as you are now. I was told to take my paper trail with receipts and recommendations to Consumer Affairs where I could make an official complaint. I insisted that Monroe pay us back for all of our out of pocket money for the car due to their negligence. It took months, but we received our damages back. I am sorry for your troubles. Good luck to you.

Do you have a lawyer in the family? Or perhaps one you could ask to
make a call to the dealership. It sounds to me like these jerks are asking to be sued for automotive malpractice.

Re:
Thank you. Yes, Goldie, that last sentence sums up the entire year for just about everyone and everything. It will get fixed, this will all pass. It is just something we all have to get through.

Oh my! It's just one thing after the other in 2020! I hope everything turns out okay with your vehicle. This should have never happened.

Re: How Horrible!!!
Thank you, and oh yes, they will pay for this! It’s Himself‘s “baby” and we do have another vehicle, a nice car. They’ve found the part, which will takè time (probably when UPS or Amazon deliver) to arrive and then they will install. Meanwhile, the truck can sit there taking up their real estate and be under their liability regarding further damage until it’s fixed and there is compensation of some kind. The dealership will probably get a little visit from Himself. They know his feelings about this. My brother had something like this happen when a deslership dinged the hood of his car, and they had to send it to a body shop to fix it! Can’t anyone do their jobs? Even simple jobs?

How Horrible!!!
Is this your only mode of transportation? If so, I'd raise a stink! They made an error, and they need to fix it--especially if this vehicle is what you rely on for your livlihood!
If you can wait...then perhaps do so...but not for long. After all, again, it was their error. They need to take responsibility for that and compensate you somehow.

Re: Kabu
No, there is no way the mistake has to be paid for but the initial repair has to be paid for. And it's not cheap. Been a rough few weeks here, S. Sister. I hope your weekend is better than your week has been also.

I can't believe they expect you to pay for their mistake. At least refuse to pay for instillation.
