When I was a child, my mother used goose grease for everything. We used the feather down for pillows, the meat for eating, and the grease for everything else. She'd mix turpentine with some and rub it on our chests when we had the croup. She'd rub some on her hands to soften them after washing clothes on the washboard with homemade lyesoap, etc., etc.
