Hi Kabu, just reading this now, your story reminds me of Sara Henderson (From Strength to Strength) - have you ever read it? I think you would enjoy the parallels.

I remember as a little kid watching soap operas with my mother...Most of the material was well over my head at the time.

I always felt god-like, watching soaps. Their problems were so easy to fix with a bit of communication, a dash of common sense... but no matter how often I told them, they never heard me, never listened to a thing I said that would have made their lives so much easier!
One of my favorite bits of eye-rolling candy was the time a devious wife, having pretended to be pregnant to keep her man interested, sent him out for Chinese take-out so she could call a baby broker to arrange for a new-born.

It reads like a romantic adventure, but living it had to be an experience
that built character - one of those adversities to be triumphed over as a learning experience after you're safely on the other side of it.

Well we used to watch Neighbours I can't remember when ,but it was OK for the time.
I bet that bus got hot, and I remember you kept a gun handy for night time safety.
A pity a son was not told the truth, mothers sacrifice etc.

Oh, dear S. Sister, this takes me back. I didn't know you got that soap in Australia! I only watched The Young and The Restless! The others came on afterwards and it would be lunchtime for the girls or some other such time. Being a remote area with little ones must have been challenging. Fun though. I am so glad I was home with mine when they were little. You have had some fun adventures! Good for you.
