Free time is not what was promised before even dishwashers much less hi-tech items we have now.

Technology is not my bet friend either, FSI... though I do now have a desktop, a laptop, a smartphone and an Ipad. Had to call out an engineer however to upgrade me to Windows 10 on the laptop, the thing I use most.... and I still never seem to have any free time (smile).

It is odd how work cycles seem to ebb and flow. I am glad you use your free time well. Some of us are better wired for technology than others. I may fall into the "others" category. I think one keep learning always.
