Perhaps the kids got in on the act now they are older they may question their Dad's obsessive behavior, actually it is a form of self preservation if one can blame everything in life onto one painful experience. So don't worry, I am sure deep down he still loves you the pain is not of your making. Just go for it. Three cheers for our Wiley.

It has to work out this time because you two have agreed to work together on it. That in itself gives you the edge: "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." ~ Matthew 18:19. Just keep praying about it together and be patient.

Holding my mouth right, crossing my fingers, and sending up a prayer....the important thing is, it's something....and even if it's one step forward then two steps back, it's still movement and once started, movement tends to acquire a life of its own as it sets off energy in the Universe.

He's a grownup, he should have some life experience by now to indicate there are at least two sides to every story, and that it takes two to make it better. It does sound hopeful, though. Good job, Wiley... ☺
