I've always just giggled at that joke, but never stopped to actually consider the philosopy behind it...great post - I'll be pondering morality all day

If it is a wrong thing (and it seems wrong to me) then Karma will
see to righting it in good time.

No I think it would be alright to take one egg. The reason being it would give the other potential chicks a better start in life. Of course I were a cuckoo I would lay an egg and rely on my offspring to tip the others little nutters out of the nest. Nature is cruel Kabu, but mostly because it needs to be, we have a choice. Wa, wa.

It reminds me of the great philosophical question about whether or not the tree that falls when no one is around makes a sound.

The deed is what it is, whether it was observed or not...Having said that, it doesn't quite end there, and we're getting into Berkeleyan questions of perception and epistemology generally...

The scripture says God is the all seeing eye. Wrong is wrong and right is right. Whether anyone sees us or not the deed has been registered. Rape to female or male is a damnable deed. Today I am not sure if men are more evil than women. It is not my job anyway God is the Judge.

Indeed it's a crime, even if no one saw it.
