Maybe it's a male thing, but I do find your statistics interesting. And I'm sure they must be useful because I find them interesting and will come back. Or is that because I'm a man and just find statistics interesting per se. Help! Is it a man thing. Are we obsessed with collecting whatever we can, even if it's just numbers? I collect whisky cartons for instance. Is that of any use to anyone? I wont' stop though. And you shouldn't stop either. Cheers for now. Dave.

Wiley, my friend,
Thanks for stopping by.  I'm with you when it comes to poetry.  I prefer the real and basing some of my fiction on real events in my life.  Besides, I'm not any good at the poetry thing.

Notapoet,
love your stats, but, I am kinda like Tropicagal, I like to write real stuff, and if I do poetry I get too emotional

I don't think its so much that the audience for poetry is small as it is that there are so many poets clamoring for attention that it limits the available audience for each poet.  A surplus of poets for the size of the market also seems to limit the available pay.  The same can be said for short fiction markets.  Yet, if you are moved to write poetry (or short fiction) I wholeheartedly encourage you to go for it.  The joy of doing what you love is not measureable in dollars.  If the dollars also come, so much the better.  All writing that embodies the writer's heart and soul is worth it!

Interesting and fun.  I will write poetry even if I am the only one to hear it.

I suppose the fact that poetry has such a small audience makes it more special.

Maybe???

Thanks for reading.  I also like stats.  That's why I play around with them so much.  However, unless you have the proper background information, far too many so-called relevant stats are just items of trivia that prove little if anything.  That's why I try to qualify what is significant so that people don't make the mistake of trying to compare apples with oranges.  But I'll be the first to admit that bits of useless trivia are indeed fun.

Poetry ain't my thang none either.

I mean, I used to be great at writing poetry and every now and then, I can wax poetic as if the world would fade away tomorrow.  But now I enjoy writing non fiction for that is what I read.

Hey, all that worthless information, I kinda liked it.  I don't know, I just like reading lists and stats and such.
