The media does seem to thrive on these tragedies a bit much, but I am glad they are remembering those beautiful children with warm beautiful smiles. I am glad you got away from it if it is bringing you down, bad things happen in the world, but life goes on for those left here.

Great post of a horrible situation love, and I did like reading about Morgan Freeman in Pat'B's comment. Like everybody else it has taken over our lives for days and perhaps for folks on anti-depressants, it is overpowering, makingfor days dark. I Love you

I can appreciate what these people are going through, and project all the sympathy in the world, without having to see these poor people have cameras and microphones jammed in their faces and asked the most ridiculous and obvious question "How do you feel?" Yes, I believe the media does feed off of these tragedies, and in a way, continually upsets and hurt the feelings of the families involved. I mean, they were interviewing people literally hours after it happened, before these people could fully digest the magnitude of this tragic loss! Horrible!

I agree. I think it is best just to turn off the TV. After one hears the basic news, what more does one really need to grieve.

A drive through snowy roads to a nice supper at Christmas time,
enjoying a meal with someone you love. Wonderful idea, and amazing how we take such simple sweetness for granted. We've been lucky, you honeymooners in Camelot, and my family here, to have those get-togethers to remember. I have come to think of you as family, and when I count my blessings, you are right up there on top of the list.

This will take up space in your comments, Kabu, but it was too good not to post. This is apparently what Morgan Freeman had to say about the tragic event. It has been ging around on Facebook:
"You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here's why.
...It's because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.
CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.
You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

We have removed prayer and the good Lord from our schools systems, no one takes the time to teach our children morals anymore, we rob the mental health system to pay Paul or someone else on down the line, and then our children are taught that from animals they come...I suppose, Kabu, that we will see much more of this...Sadly...Acting like animals.

PFor myself it looks like our public television, going into not only detail but doing features on every possible angle and aspect of it from education to potty training the same as the American cable sports stations talk about every minute detail about teams in every sport love. BC-A, Bill’s R®st

This is an horrific happening and the news media just sucks up every little smathering of it without regard for the families. News media are little more than whores for a story that is painful and leaving alone those that would change our country. These are horrible for the families. I do not mean in any sense to compare this with the death of my youngest son, but a local news paper had photographs of the accident splashed all over the paper before the funeral. They feef only on a next big story! God bless you dear one and keep praying for those families, this is so tragic.

Love you both.

I completely agree with you Kabu. I cannot imagine the heartache those parents have yet to go through. I don't understand the media need to report every gory detail. Has our nation become so sick that we cannot have empathy for those in need of our prayers?

I was really, truly saddened by this terrible tragedy, and I am totally pi**ed off with the way the media are milking it and somehow, in the process, trivializing it...

I understand where you are coming from, Kabu. My sentiments and condolences are for the families hurting; not the grusome details of it all.

Like you I'm not keen with how the media handles things. Heck, they were in such a rush to get a scoop that many reported the guy's brother as the shooter.

Grandmummy...
I am so pleased that you and Poppy went out for supper yesterday. With the issues he has been having with his sister of late, I worry about him. You are so wonderful for one another!
No, you are not wrong to feel that the media is feeding off this horrible tragedy. I feel exactly the way. Why can't they just stop showing the footage and leave the people of Newtown to grieve in peace?
God the Father is weeping with His children. I have to confess that it's things like these that make it very difficult for me to feel any kind of Christmas spirit.
Still, I refuse to allow this to make me bitter. There is good in the world, and people who care. God is with us always and will NEVER leave us. We still have lessons to learn and reasons to celebrate the birth of the Holy Child.
Merry Christmas to you and Poppy Grandmummy. Big Hugs and kisses blown your way to you both from Margaret and I.
Please, could you send me a quick email? I need to chat with you for a moment.

Life goes on, and I am glad for that
and that is not the same as forgetting.
And yes, the 'news' media do their damnedest to milk every disaster, every tragedy they can, because their job is not giving news, or balancing society or answering its needs. Their job is selling news and that means, pandering to what they think will bring in the most money. It happens every time, every dreadful event.
That's why I don't watch tv news, or buy papers.
