I couldn't agree more. Everyone seemed to forget that, regardless of their skin color, these men were all on the same side, fighting a common enemy for the same reasons. Their recognition was long overdue!

Reminds me of the Japanese men of the 442nd
Even though the US was fighting against Japan, many Americans of Japanese Ancestry (AJAs) fought on the US side. They, too, were shunned and ridiculed, as were their families and friends.
Just terrible.

they made a film about this and we watched it not long ago. a brave man

I went to the various monuments in Washington DC and there was one to honor blacks for their service in the military. I made sure to take a pic of my grandkids in front of it....
