Good for you, and good for Wiley! Persistence can pay off sometimes! Beaurocratic red-tape is usually the toughest to cut through! It's nice when things like that have a happy ending!

They say that to me everytime I pay up Wiley, you would have made a brilliant lawyer.
My cousin worked in the income tax department and he looked up his Grandmother's old records. In those days they wrote in ink. Scribbled across the records was. 'Watch this person, something is not right.'

A great post love and a great day. To tell you the truth I have been made different because of the jobs I held with American owned companies. I heard so much about the U.S. Constitution and 'RIGHTS' of the citizen that as much as I respect government up to a point, America taught me I had a right to ASK and receive an answer. Bureaucrats here think THEY are the government and I just had to tell them they are not.
Your letter to them in all the documents I put together was the most important because it gently pointed out the stupidity of that decision to penalize, so don't sell yourself short darlin'.
Here is a quote from the CRA letter that has to be made clear so we can't fall in to disfavour with anyone in the taxation department.
"It should be noted that these present actions are in no way to be construed as setting a precedent. Under normal cicumstances, any penalty and/or related interest that is assessed under the provisions of the Income Tax Act is due and payable in full."
So, they covered their butts for future challenges.
