I think often the length of illness has to do with state of mind
I suspect what your mother stated about why she recovered faster was completely accurate.

You Mom got it right, we get well quicker when we know that we must! Sorry it was so rough on Ann! The time does fly as you say! And happy birthday to your Mom, too!
