Thank God she did. It was far worse for you guys than for us but as a child I was afraid and I am sure you were. So sad what you had to go through there. God bless you.

Imagination gets to you Justi I know how you must've felt, my little sister at the time was not old enough to have a proper gas mask and someone in their wisdom had devised something that looked like a Mickey Mouse face with a flap that vibrated up-and-down, I used to worry that she would be afraid of it and never keep it on, your story reminded me thank you.

I lived in a city where my father worked in an ammunitions plant. There was not all the sophisticated tracking stuff as today. They did not know it would not be bombed. So we began practicing making the place, whole city, dark. It never became a daily thing but many feared it would.

A wonderful read and I remember the war years too with my 3 brothers overseas and Mike never came back.

I really enjoyed this and can remember the trouble I made for myself when I

was very young.

Too much terror for a wee baby girl though to have to deal with, bombs and black outs and places near by like London being bombed.

I must ask why it was so vital in the beginning to have the house blacked out on Thursdays 7--midnight!

What a great story! Sometimes we are too young to grasp it all but the lessons stay with us! sam

As a history major I enjoyed reading this entry. It's interesting to read primary accounts of the war, the draft, etc.

Cute, touching and utterly delightful! You have beautifully captured that little girl's wonder, excitement and anxiety...
