It is a very interesting philosophy.....their music has a special appeal too. My son has the book you mentioned, so I've read it. Will look forward to hearing your response to it.

Re: Greenfields
It's not a surprise then that I found this book in Turkey. Thank you so much for your information, I'll look out for Sufi music in Istanbul.

Oh yes, I know what Sufism is and what Sufis are
I  have written several blogs on Sufu music, books and wisdom.  Rumi was one of the greatest Sufi saints and philosophers.  Sufi music spans the area of the Middle East, South and southeast Asia.  Turkey is a great centre of Sufi dance and music.  If you get a chance to see Sufi dancers and hear Sufi chanting, go for it.

Vogue
I understand that Sufism is a form of Muslim mysticism which rejects many of the traditional teachings of the Koran, but I am not familiar with it in detail, and I am looking forward to hear more about it from you...

Sufi means purity... A Sufi is one that practices Sufism, they believe that by giving love to everything that has been created they get a greater power of love and with this power they can loose the self and therefore find G-d.  How do I know this you may ask...well its a Persian thing.  My husband's family is from Persia and this movement is something they are very proud of.  Idries Shah was an Afghan author that wrote about middle eastern philosophies in a way westeners could understand. He died about 10 years ago but had already become famous before that.   His books are terrific you will surely enjoy this one if you are into that kind of stuff.  Enjoy your find...you got good taste :-)
