If humans didn't feel and have a desire for sex (as oppposed to just having children), sex would be such a punishment.  For many it still is - especially women who are forced into sexual intercourse for procreation.  If it can't be for pleasure we shouldn't do it.  Sounds like too much work.  Yes?

God made sex

God made sex fun

God made sex to be enjoyed

Stupid people pervert it

These kind of ideas make me oh so glad I'm an atheist. It's just silly to think of sex that way. What a waste.

I would never have a problem with responsible sex between consenting individuals who have no promises of fidelity to other parties to keep.  It is probably the closest we can come to experiencing each other on a physical as well as an emotional level and I don't think that kind of experience should be limited to procreation only.  This is different from merely satisfying your own lust without taking the other relevant parties into consideration.  The only kind of sexual activity I would not condone is where there is a breach of promises made (this causes many more problems than the experience is worth) and obviously were one engages in such activity against anothers' will (this is simply monstrous and put's a persons value below the rest of the animal kingdom to my mind).

Today, sex is for pleasure not procreation. It is all tied in with society's games! Trojan sells!!!!

The first part of my statement didn't make sense. If sex were for the sole
purpose of multiplying, is what I meant to say."

If sex were to multiply only, people who are barren should never have

sex.

This is an irrational belief, in my humble opinion.  Sex is to be enjoyed...what about people passed the age of childbearing, should they stop having sex?  You see where such an irrational belief leads?

Sweetheart... I know what is in your beliefs and in the beliefs of many.

Of course sex is to multiply. However, I feel very strongly that it is not the only purpose.
If sex was not meant to be enjoyed, it wouldn't be enjoyable.

God would have found another way to populate the earth if it was so.
