Old age is the last step before tranquility if one is wise. If not it is a rope that tightens our throughts and makes our eyes already dull waiting for death. Resist resist resist....

i agree with greenfields and sunny.
Life comes in stages, we watch our parents then it is our turn, maybe we learn something watching and listening. And maybe how we handle it determines how well we do when it is our turn.

Watching our parents age is so hard on our inner child who still needs and
wants their approval. My heart goes out to you.

you are a very sweet son my dear afzal...your mother is so lucky...it goes with the age my dear, as they grow old they tend (or we) to become melancholic and extra sensitive...

Very moveing, and I sadly have to admit I can't answer it. I have that same question with my own mother.

Old age and loneliness...
...are difficult bedfellows. My mother is there. It is painful to behold. Be strong and be there for her as best you can. God Bless you, afzal50!

It's hard to say, from such a distance.
I guess I would ask, how were you in her presence? Did you try to be positive? Or were you sad? The emotions of her children can deeply affect a mother.
It might be helpful to let her know that you are ok, and will be ok? Just a thought.

It's difficult to watch our parents age. I'm sorry to hear your mother seemed so sad when you saw her.

I don't know the details behind your poem, but I'm sorry if you and your mother are in pain. I would love to have had the old age my grandmother had - she died at 95, was very active, never lost her memory and was surrounded by those she loved when she died. I wish everyone could have the same

It is difficult.  But, it is important to keep in mind that it is a stage in life and we not make it harder than it needs to be.  I understand your dilemma.
