I'm currently taking zoloft, but only 1/2 pill per day. I've gotten off of it and noticed nothing untoward. I have heard nightmare stories about effexor, however. I hope you do well, whatever your decision ultimately is. Have a Merry Christmas.

Yikes...
I had no idea that stuff was that strong, or whatever. I take Enbrel shots for arthritis and I fear I will have to keep doing that too, although I am only using half as much as I started out with. I hate taking stuff all the time and it's expensive, the four pre filled syringes would cost $1,500 without insurance.

Whoa, Justi...............
My doc tried to treat me for depression and the pill made me sick. I stopped taking them and I quit the doc - she didn't know what she was doing. I wasn't depressed, have never been depressed, and found me a new doc who found out what was wrong - severe polyneuropathy, a far cry from depression. I take many prescriptions, but none that I don't need, so far as I know.
I hope you're feeling better, sweet lady. God bless.

Yesterday morning I was very busy and somehow forgot to take my morning blood pressure medicines (two different ones). By evening I was feeling rather strange and it made me wonder if I had taken the medicine so I dug out my BP cuff I hadn't used for a long time and my BP was sky high. I guess that if I didn't have access to Metoprolol and Altace, I would die of a stroke like my grandma did.

I would take the doctor's advice and ask for a gradual lowering of the medication with the goal of getting off it in a few years. In the meanwhile, exercise, have a good diet, consider alternative therapy if you can get it - reiki, yoga, some hypnosis, acupuncture, homeopathy and massage. etc. Zoflot and other medications for depression and anxiety should never be just stopped. There are withdrawal symptoms which you experience. I have treated successfully many patients with hypnotherapy, but insist that they still with the medication and taper it off.

Justi...I can so relate to your story. In 1987 I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and was prescribed Xanax. I took the darn things for several years before I knew they were addicting (and long before they became a household name)....It seemed to be quite effective in treating the disorder and my sleep issues as well, but I finally had to lay the darn things aside. Just like you I went through some withdrawal and finally was free of the drugs. Now I do nothing except deal with my panic attacks and I have learned some very good control exercises to help me in that endeavor. I would never, ever go through such an ordeal again or if I did I would never do it without a doctor's guide.
You take care and be blessed dear lady...I can somehow envision the look of George's face when you almost wanted to bite his head off for being so nice...

Justi, that is a very interesting account of your experience...I am moody
and fight melancholy a lot, but I think it's sugar for me. LOL I'm trying to wean myself off of it but I keep reading it's as bad as trying to get off of heroin! Anyway, I was touched by what you've gone through.
