NOWHERE IN THE WORLD THEY ARE TRULY EMANCIPATED ? GUESS WHO ?
Isn't it a sad commentary to realize how so many women give birth to babies, only to see them grow into a stranger who will ultimately become their oppressor? joab

Afzal, I do believe that no woman is "free" as in "treated equal to men" anywhere in the world...but some places are worse than others.

you have now explained why I feel the need to fight all the time.

Afzal
Anyone at all, in any kind of a relationship, is never free.  There are always committments, responsibilities, etc.  One may run from them and try to hide, drink too much, party, find a new life, but the chains still bind and will eventually drag one down in guilt and remorse if their best was not given freely.

Afzal:

In this context, what does freedom mean? Would you consider Condoleeza Rice, The President of Germany, The President of Chile, free women? Please define freedom. Thanks.

there have been a few women that have known freedom, like joan of arc, but
it does cost them dearly, except for mother thresa, and a few others. now it seems to me the free ones were never married. will have to think more on this

Greenfields,

Afzal
Women are not emancipated anywhere in the world because the moment they are born they are treated as and reminded that they are less than men.  Men are complicit in this.  So are women.  I think more and more women all over the world are taking charge of their lives.  The question is not so much why they are not free, but how they can become free.

Afzal

Your right and it's all about equality, so whats good for one should be good for another etc.  Nice lines again.

Good morning afzal...If their not free here in the US then there's a good chance it's their own fault...I know I have always felt free to do anything in life...but I also know there are places where women are very oppressed.
