Few teenagers today have manners.
Worse, gratitude seems to be a foreign concept to many of them.  Often they think all the privilege and pampering they receive is their due.  It's mostly their parents' fault.  Manners and values should be learned in the home.  Ultimately I suppose it's the fault of my generation for not raising the parents properly.

Re: MandaLee/Hi Betty

Hi Betty,

You are absolutely right. Personally, I think this decline is a sad commentary on the depths to which the world has sunk.  All of this in an effort to not violate a child's socalled, "rights" or, "freedom of expression."

Ironically (or not so), diagnoses of new mental illnesses have reached an all time high.  Whatever happened to parents raising healthy, functioning, adults who are capable of contributing to society?

Don't understand that today.  Rumored wrote a post on manners the other day.

MandaLee
Please, excuse me and thank you, do not seem to be a part of the English language for young people today.  But, most of them never miss a chance to express four letter words.  It is so refreshing to meet a child or teen who does not have to be reminded with a "What do you say?"

Re: mandalee

battered_knight,

That is sad, I think.  Sad, but so true.  How right you are.

It's funny to see how much has changed without really changing at all
