Extremists and evil intent taint the goodness of many religions, unfortunately. Muslims are in the spotlight of suspicion because of 9-11 and also due to people's fears and unreasonable paranoia being stoked continously for nefarious reasons by government. So many blinded.

A good question, but i don't think anyone has a conclusive anwer. Is is misguided zeal or incorrect interpretation of the faith, or is it a deliberate effort to gain power in the name of Islam? only time will tell.

My (former) Christian (Roman Catholic) faith had it's villains - for example, the evil Cardinal Richelieu and the notorious "Spanish Inquisition." Although, I must say, and I sincerely hope that I don't offend you, but I think "The Crusades" were much more complex than people would have one think - I don't think either the Christians or the Muslims were "always" fighting for what was noble or just - I think it probably went back and forth, depending on the behavior of individuals at a given time - on both sides. That's just my opinion.

Surely , september 11 was the handiwork of some misguided elements masquarading as Muslims .God does not like trangressors which is stated in almost every Surah of the HOly Quraan in one form or another .
