As long as we have the desire, NOTHING is beyond our reach, sweetie.

Excellent point - I don't blame love itself, I just think it's possible for two people to bond through selfishness in a sort of mutually narcissistic, unhealthy relationship - but for the most part , I think you are right on target with your point!

Afzal, the wise men tell us that we would be happier if we were content with what we have. I remember a Pakastani man who I saw frequently when we were allowed to feed the homeless. He always departed with “May God grant you peace of mind.” There is no greater blessing. And I think that peace of mind might begin with being content with what we have. NewMoon

Re: Afzal
Enigmatic,

I really can't believe that lovers can be so indifferent to others . I think it is an isolated case and you cannot therefore blame love itself for that . You have a point but don't form a hasty opinion . May be some lovers are too scared to come close to others in case they lose interest in one another. May be they suffer from some kind of a complex .I definitely like to help others apart from being in love with my beloved .

I think we might be disagreeing as to what "true love" is - because I have known couples who will do anything and everything for each other, but absolutely nothing (or the bare minimum) for anybody else.

Re: Afzal
Enigmatic68,

Love itself is noble . There is nothing nobler than love .Love makes you help others . Thanks.

If we fritter our lives away dreaming of (so far) truly impossible things, such as physically living forever, then I see your point. But if we pursue extremely difficult, yet possible goals, like discovering cures for diseases, or even, say, striving to become a famous film actor - as long as one does not pursue it at all costs, I think these are defensible goals. If two people are truly in love with each other, but just sit around, not helping others, until they grow old and die, only having done nice things for each other - then what is so noble about that?
