We are not supposed to object to progress which makes us miserable
because, it is "progress"

...of an era silences the desperation it makes.
Can You elaborate on this? Thank you Carl Peter..

Technological progress must be tempered with a progression of wisdom, to handle it wisely. I think this is the crux of the problem here on earth.

Only in an ideal earth
everyone has a varying idea of what progress actually is . The problem is when people disagree then we have stagnation, feuding and progress stalls. Inner progress is easier to attain.

YES U R RIGHT
Process is the only way out sometimes.Without process how would you be able to get to the good. How will you get what ever it is you r trying to get if there wasn't any process we wouldn't be were we are today. So the answer is YES.

Hi Mysteria....Hmmmmm.. sometimes progress makes life MORE

complicated...too many choices, need to learn new things (like how to work the universal remote) LOL I haven't been around much lately, I hope you are doing well. Did I ever tell you that you have some great energy? Well, you do!

Progress...
Is only progress if it is progressive! For more on that, check out tomorrow's My Soapbox, which explores (with photos) how my new computer improved my writing skills!

Progress is often a matter of opinion
So if the opinion is one which favors meaning in life, then progress would make life more meaningful.  Usually, though, the opinion is not that and the highly touted "progress" of an era silences the desperation it makes.

Yes, it does
but it also presents challenges.  How to address these challenges, then becomes progress too!!!

BlondeAmbition007 Interesting reflection and view points Blonde
I think as long as we are talking progress we are talking good things cause if it were'nt good it would not be progress.  It seems some forces get back-up in bottlenecks and eddys but the river still flows forward.

I agree with Justi.
I think progress in general as good, as long as it is used for a good purpose.

posted by Jadelynn on February 27, 2007 at 7:18 PM | link to this | reply

Mysteria
Progress is inevitable. It is what we do with what we learn in the progression if it is bad or good. If we put bad to good use or good to bad use?

progress is good if its pointed in the right direction, but the splitting
of the atom kinda got us sidetracked in that area just a bit....

I think you're right
but sometimes progress can lead to so many choices that we just don't have the time (or sometimes inclination) to make the right ones or even make any choice. I often feel exhilarated by possibilities now available to me and frozen to the bone at the same time.

Mysteria

In our society, it seems that progress has given us less time to spend with our families and for ourselves......or is that by choice? Life seems so hectic and fast paced.

Also, with progress comes the implementing of security measures which takes away our freedoms.........K, sorry.....I hate sounding negative........just my observation and opinion for the day.

Life always has meaning

but when we make progress, we get to see a little more of what that meaning is..

its a privelage u work for... learning the secrets of the universe...

not to be looked down on by any means

--- the more we learn, the more we realize how much there is to learn
for that fact, I do believe that progress can in a sense bring new meaning to a life

Yes, it does. I agree. But what I'd say is that different people have
different ideas about what constitutes progress in their own lives.
