Guilt is for the birds
If we lived honestly, with ourselves and others, we would not feel it.

Afzal,
I honestly don't believe in anything but myself. I think that religion was invented to make simpler minds thread in line with what the leaders dictated - it still does that. Education, most likely, could make religion disappear. For instance, see to it that all muslim women are well-educated and then see if their men still would have that much to say...

I was speaking to an Indian last week and we both agreed that all religions should be banned. More people have been killed in the name of religion than have ever entered any paradise.

Afzal, I don't know the answers to anything. I only knew the answers when I was young. I hope someone can enlighten me. MoonSpirit

If God has ordained/decreed sin to be, and in The Bible he has done just that (Romans 5:12 et al, it says that by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin, so that all have sinned.), what good is it going to do for some faiths to opt to do away with the concept of sin to make life easier to live?  Man already has the ability to make a free choice. He just doesn't like the choices that he has.

Imagining that there is a King or Father in Heaven is anthropomorphism, imo
We project such a familial relationship because we are familiar with the power of the father or the king, but I think that we are all supremely dependent on Nature and physics.  We just can't "wrap our minds around" that fact.  We tell each other pretty fairy tales about God because we'd rather believe that we "have a bead on things", and we try to motivate people to do what we want them to do, using the same fairy tales told to children.  Unfortunately, we never seem to mature enough to face facts.

I agree, for the most part, with Whysper....
Using religion to cause people to kill other people is not what I think that Jesus wanted, although Moses had already set a bad example in that regard.  I'm more of a Budhist at heart, I guess.

I'm not a proponent of organized religion, I think it's outlived it's usefullness.  Most of what you find in o.r.'s is a measure of guilt designed to keep the masses in line with their 'vision' of the universe.

My perspective is unique to me, and yours is unique to you.  What you care to believe is your business, but when anyone tries to implant their path to realization onto another it gets lost in our inability to measure one person's perception of reality against another's.

I do not believe in heaven and hell, they are metaphors for peace of mind and the path to self realization.  Our soul is just one small portion of a larger thing which we call God, when we leave this life, we enter another life.  What we are here and now is the only time we will be who we are and what we are.  To waste our time trying to be something for someone else in hopes of a reward after this life ends is to waste what measure of time we have to work towards self realization.  That, in itself(at least to me) is just an example of hell on earth.

It is only during those moments within eternity that we spend as part of the whole that we one with God, then our soul enters another life seeking to continue it's path to self realization.  What lies at the end of this search I do not know, but there is time enough in eternity for that answer to present itself.

Afzal,

I truly believe that God means for His children to live in happiness.  If we allow our fears of certain things to destroy or take away this happiness, it is up to us to seek out God in order to regain it.\

Excellent post, my friend.

Afzal- If I were a believing Christian, why should I worry abour this whole

"arrangement'? I would then believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that whatever I do becomes immaterial. I would be guaranteed a place in Heaven.

Another belief is that our souls , before being clothed in flesh and being born into this world as humans, only submitted to God, and were blissfully unaware of sins or disobedience to God. Should our souls then be held accountable on the day of judgement if our bodies committed the wrongdoings?

Whatever arrangement we accept or not accept, the guilt feelings definitely acts as a deterrent against inflicting harm and hurt on our fellow human beings.

As you know, I don't actually believe in "death".  I think there is a better place.  I think that better place is "our natural state of being".
I believe that this life is only a very temporary part of our whole arrangement.
Good Post, Love.
